Winter Irises
These are Winter Irises (or Algerian Irises) from the Artist's garden. A pink ground, or underpainting, was used initially, and the darks were built up slowly with semi-transparent layers. The shadows were deepened to allow the irises to stand out more. This can be paired with 'Yellow Roses' by the same artist.
